Relationship Counselling

Learn what’s really driving your reactions so you and your partner can feel more present with each other and move forward with kindness.

What's really going on when things get tense between you?

Your relationship becomes the client here. That means we focus less on who’s right, and more on helping you both have hard conversations safely and differently.

In Relationship Counselling we begin by understanding your particular pattern of conflict. We look at what happens in your body when things get tense, what you find yourself saying in that moment, and what you wish you could say instead. We also look at what your partner’s reactions bring up in you, and why.

The goal here is to build the capacity to stay present with each other, even when a conversation is difficult.

I work with all couples, of any gender or orientation, when conversations get hard and you both want to move through the stuckness together.

Sessions are 90 minutes, in Bega and online

How we work together

In Relationship Counselling sessions with me,  I help you both slow down enough to notice what is happening inside each of you, not only what is happening between you.

Part of the work is learning to recognise your own protective patterns before they take over the conversation, and getting curious about what your partner’s reactions are actually protecting, rather than only how they land on you.

From there, we focus on building the capacity to stay present with each other even when a conversation is difficult, and finding a steadier place to communicate from, rather than reacting on autopilot.

This is the work that helps rebuild a sense of safety and trust, the kind many couples tell me is missing from much of their current relationship.

Areas we focus on together:

  • Recognising reactivity earlier, so there is more choice in how you respond
  • Rebuilding a sense of safety with each other
  • Moving toward more honest, less defended conversations
  • Learning to repair after conflict, rather than withdraw or escalate

About Suzanne

I’m Suzanne, a PACFA Registered Clinical Counsellor, trained in IFS Level 2, and trained in IFIO Relationship Counselling.

Both models are built on the same belief. Every part of you is welcome here, even the ones that show up messy or defensive. Every part has a good intention underneath it, even when the behaviour itself causes harm. That belief shapes how I work with you and your partner both.
